Register before visiting

Register your vehicle before using a Nottinghamshire recycling centre. The service is for Nottinghamshire County Council residents; Nottingham City residents use a separate service. You can register up to two vehicles and should update the registration when you move or change vehicles. There is no paper permit to display.

Hire vans and household DIY waste

For a hired van, contact the council’s customer service team at least 24 hours before the visit and bring the hire agreement. Paid “man with a van” services cannot use the centres.

Qualifying DIY waste from work you carried out yourself has a limit of two 50-litre bags, or one item no larger than 2m × 0.75m × 0.7m, per visit. The limit is four visits per household in four weeks. Larger renovation projects and waste from paid tradespeople do not qualify.

Planned van-system change: 2 January 2027

The council has announced a new van-registration and appointment system starting on 2 January 2027. This is a future change, not the current access system. Van users should check the council’s implementation guidance before planning visits around that date.

About Nottinghamshire Council

Nottinghamshire Council runs several recycling centres across the county, giving residents a simple way to dispose of household waste responsibly. The centres are designed to be easy to use, with clear signs and helpful staff to direct you. You can bring things like garden clippings, broken appliances, and other items you no longer need. Using these sites helps keep the community tidy and supports the environment by making sure materials are reused or recycled wherever possible.
