Check paint and fridge restrictions

Only high- or medium-VOC household paint is accepted, and only at the specified centres. Low-VOC paint, trade paint and commercial fridges or freezers are not accepted. Domestic appliances must be no larger than an American-style fridge freezer.

Separate business waste and check charges

Registered businesses can use the centres under the commercial-waste conditions. Charges depend on the load, while specified recyclable materials can be free if separated correctly. Check the current price list rather than using household access for an undeclared business load.

Recycling Centre Guidelines & Materials

Accepted Materials

Household Recycling:
Paper, Cardboard (flattened), Plastic Bottles & Hard Plastics, Glass Jars, Cans, and Aluminium Foil.
Specialist Items:
Batteries (Car & Home), Electrical Goods (WEEE), Textiles, Cooking Oil, Engine Oil, and Paint (Mid/High VOC).
Garden & Bulky:
Green Waste (leaves/grass), Wood (clean), Metals, White Goods, and Fridges/Freezers (standard size).

Prohibited Materials

The following items are not accepted at any of the borough's recycling centres:

  • Asbestos & Chemicals
  • Gas Cylinders
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Tyres
  • Plasterboard
  • Low VOC or Trade Paint
  • Fridges/freezers larger than an American-style fridge freezer, or commercial fridges/freezers
  • Wheelie Bins

Seasonal Opening Hours

Summer: 1 April – 30 September.
Winter: 1 October – 31 March.

Commercial & Trade Waste

Residents can use the sites for their household waste; business users must be registered. Charges apply based on vehicle size or bin volume (e.g., 240L bin: £11.20 / Large Van: £33.60).
