When a permit is needed

Permits are issued for Gatewarth, rather than Woolston or Stockton Heath. Ordinary small household loads in a car do not need one; the council also describes a permit-free single visit in a van or with a commercial trailer for a small household load. Check when repeat visits, larger loads or DIY materials require a permit.

Arrange qualifying Gatewarth visits

Free permits allow up to three trips in 12 months. Apply by telephone at least 48 hours ahead, during the published weekday contact hours. Check the required material description and vehicle details before calling. The household scheme does not accept business waste.

Check site acceptance before loading

Gatewarth lists DIY materials requiring a permit and materials it cannot accept. Other centres have their own access arrangements. Check your chosen site, vehicle dimensions and material list first; larger vehicles and trailers cannot use every site in the same way.
