Overview
Vale of Glamorgan Council’s official Household Waste Recycling Centre network has two sites: Barry and Llandow. Both are represented on this page. The council uses the HWRC term and provides separate guidance on each location, accepted household waste and access arrangements; use the individual listing for the centre you plan to visit.

Book household disposal and bring proof
Book before visiting Barry or Llandow, except when recycling real Christmas trees. Display your booking confirmation and proof of residency in the windscreen. A separate visit to Barry’s reuse shop does not need a booking.
Check the van and trailer permit
Eligible vans and cars with qualifying single-axle trailers need a £20 permit and an appointment. Permit visits are limited to one per household per calendar month. Vehicles over 3,330kg gross weight, high-top vans and twin-axle trailers are not accepted.
Sort bags and separate plasterboard
There is a maximum of three mixed general-waste bags per booking. Sort recyclable items out of bags before disposal. Small household DIY quantities of plasterboard or gypsum must be separated, declared to staff and placed in the dedicated container.
