Check residency and the Lyne exception

Surrey residents can use the county’s recycling centres. Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead residents can also use Lyne under a separate agreement. Bring the required proof for a first visit and follow the council’s window-sticker arrangements for later visits.

Van permits cover limited visits at participating centres

A Surrey van permit costs £10, lasts 12 months and allows up to 12 visits. Only participating centres accept these vehicles, and the permitted materials are restricted. Check the rules before applying or hiring a van.

Check the free DIY allowance before loading

Surrey has quantity and frequency limits for free construction and DIY waste at participating centres, with separate conditions for vans. Check the material list, allowance and charges before bringing rubble, soil, plasterboard or other DIY waste.

About this category

About Surrey Council

Surrey County Council operates 14 Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) for Surrey residents, and Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead residents can also use Lyne under a separate agreement. Proof of residency is required when visiting. Before arriving, residents should separate and sort recycling from general waste to speed up disposal. If using a van, pickup, or trailer to bring household waste, a valid permit must be obtained. Please note that some non-household materials are classified as chargeable waste. The CRCs are designed to help residents recycle efficiently while ensuring fair and regulated site use.
