Overview

Shropshire Council operates five household recycling centres at Bridgnorth, Craven Arms, Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Whitchurch. The network is intended for household recycling and waste, with the council providing separate guidance for hazardous materials, garden waste and vehicle-specific access. Use the individual centre information to confirm what each site accepts before travelling.

Shropshire Council’s five Household Recycling Centres are:

Booking and proof of address

Visitors arriving in a car do not need a booking. If you are visiting in a van or towing a trailer, you must book before travelling and can be turned away without a booking.

Visitors should bring proof that they live in Shropshire, such as a driving licence, utility bill or Council Tax bill.

Household and DIY waste

Shropshire Household Recycling Centres are for household waste and recycling. Business waste must not be taken to the sites.

Only small amounts of construction waste from domestic DIY activity are accepted. The current limit is no more than 0.5 cubic metres per month, approximately a small car-boot load. Larger quantities require an alternative disposal method.

About Shropshire Council

Shropshire Council operates five recycling centres across the county. Each site has clearly marked containers for different recycling streams, so please separate your items before arriving to help maximise recycling and reduce congestion. The centres are for household waste only, and they only accept small amounts of construction or DIY waste generated from your own home. Cars do not currently need to book, but vans and trailers must have a booking before visiting. The booking system helps manage van and trailer access, site safety and efficiency.
