Overview
Plymouth City Council’s two recycling centres are represented here: Chelson Meadow and Weston Mill. The council’s current recycling-centres information identifies both locations as the city’s two-centre network, and both are household recycling facilities. This page therefore provides complete coverage of the council’s listed sites.

Chelson Meadow and Weston Mill
Chelson Meadow normally opens daily; Weston Mill normally opens on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Check the council’s timetable for holiday closures and service changes. Bring proof of your Plymouth address. Vans and trailers must use Chelson Meadow under the appropriate access arrangements.
Vans, trailers and short-term hire
Plymouth residents can apply for one free household permit for an eligible van or trailer they own. The allowance is 12 annual trips for the council’s small-vehicle category or trailers under 1.8m, and six for its larger-vehicle category or trailers from 1.8m to 3m. Loads consisting only of garden waste do not count as a trip.
Vans hired for no more than three days do not require a permit. Bring the hire agreement and proof of your Plymouth address. Vehicle exclusions still apply.
Booking your free DIY allowance
Book to use the free household DIY allowance. It covers up to two 50-litre bags, four 25-litre bags, or one item no larger than 2m × 0.75m × 0.7m per visit, with four visits in four weeks. Individual bags must weigh less than 25kg. Extra quantities and unbooked DIY waste are chargeable, with card payment required.
