Free e-permits for vehicle visits

All vehicle visits require an e-permit. A car permit is free, lasts three years and allows unlimited visits. Van and trailer permits are also free and allow 12 visits in a year. Apply for the correct category and keep the registered vehicle details up to date.

Pedestrians and cyclists do not need an e-permit, but must still bring proof of their Peterborough address.

Hire vehicles and exclusions

Hire vehicles have separate permit arrangements, with a maximum of three visits. Check the council’s instructions before collecting the vehicle. Luton vans, extra-long vans, horseboxes, caravans and other excluded vehicle types cannot use the household centre. Trailers over 2.5m are not permitted.

An e-permit provides access for household waste; it does not authorise business, trade or landlord waste.

Peterborough City Council operates one Household Recycling Centre, provided for residents to dispose of household waste responsibly. Proof of address is required when visiting, and the gates close 10 minutes before the advertised closing time. During bad weather, the site may close at short notice. Parking spaces are available for unloading; however, if the site is full, staff will manage a one-in-one-out system. Business, trade, commercial, or landlord waste is not accepted at the site.
