Booking and proof of address

Book before visiting any Oxfordshire household waste recycling centre. Appointments are available up to two weeks ahead and, subject to availability, as little as 30 minutes before arrival. Bring proof of address and use the vehicle registered in your booking. Cyclists also need a booking; pedestrians cannot enter.

Non-Oxfordshire residents pay £15 per booking and cannot use the free DIY allowance, book an asbestos visit or use a vehicle requiring a van and trailer permit.

Vans, trailers and hire vehicles

Eligible vans, pick-ups and cars towing trailers require a separate permit as well as a booking. Permits allow 10 visits in 12 months and are available only to Oxfordshire residents. Check the vehicle restrictions before applying. Vehicles or trailers hired for three days or less can qualify for the permit exemption; bring the hire agreement and proof of address, and still book your visit.

Free DIY allowance and charges

Oxfordshire residents can bring qualifying household DIY waste free once every seven days: up to two 50-litre bags, or one item measuring no more than 2m × 0.75m × 0.7m. Select the DIY materials when booking to claim the allowance. Undeclared DIY waste and amounts above the allowance are chargeable. Tyres and asbestos have separate charges and are outside this allowance.

Reuse and choosing a centre

The seven centres are Alkerton, Ardley Fields, Dix Pit, Drayton, Oakley Wood, Redbridge and Stanford in the Vale. Check the council’s site information for opening times and temporary changes before travelling. For reusable items, ask staff about the site’s reuse arrangements before placing them in a container.

About Oxfordshire Council

Oxfordshire County Council recycling centres accept a wide range of household waste and recycling. Charges apply for disposing of DIY and non-household waste, such as rubble, soil, plasterboard, and bathroom fittings. Payment is usually by card only at the site. If you plan to visit in a van or with a trailer, you will need to apply for a valid permit before attending. Always check the council’s website for up-to-date guidance on charges and permit requirements.
