Overview

North Northamptonshire Council’s four Household Waste Recycling Centres are at Corby, Kettering, Rushden and Wellingborough. Our four associated records cover the complete current council list. The council uses the HWRC label and publishes separate pages for each town; the directory’s shorter “Recycling Centre” names are facility-label differences, not additional or missing sites.

E-permits and hire vehicles

The free e-permit gives eligible commercial-type vehicles and cars towing qualifying trailers six visits in 12 months. Only one permit is available per household and nominated vehicle. It does not renew automatically; update the permit if your address or vehicle changes.

Hired vehicles also need an e-permit. Choose the hire option, which is valid for three days from application, and bring the hire agreement. Borrowing a van or trailer does not remove the permit requirement. Check the size restrictions before arranging a vehicle.

Household materials and current service notices

Check the accepted-materials list before bringing DIY waste or unusual items. Asbestos is not accepted. Domestic-use gas bottles are accepted, while refillable bottles should be returned to their manufacturer or supplier.

Before bringing a fridge or freezer, check the council’s current acceptance arrangements, quantity limits and identification requirements.

Separate paid trade-waste service

Kettering and Rushden offer a separate paid trade-waste service. This is outside the household e-permit scheme. Check the commercial service’s vehicle, waste-carrier documentation and payment requirements before travelling with business waste.

About North Northamptonshire Council

North Northamptonshire Council operates four Household Waste Recycling Centres: Corby, Kettering, Rushden, and Wellingborough. These centres accept a wide range of recyclable materials, including garden waste, small electricals, and textiles. Residents using commercial-type vehicles or towing trailers must apply for a free e-permit, which allows up to six visits per year . Trade waste is handled through a separate paid service at Kettering and Rushden. Asbestos is not accepted at any of the four centres. Domestic-use gas bottles are accepted; refillable bottles should be returned to the manufacturer or supplier.
