North Lanarkshire Council operates six household waste recycling centres for residents, at Airdrie, Bellshill, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld, Netherton and Shotts. The sites are licensed for domestic household waste rather than commercial waste, with photo ID and proof of address required for visits. Book vans into one of four centres

Eligible vans and single-axle trailers can book Netherton, Shotts, Coatbridge or Cumbernauld. Airdrie and Bellshill are not part of that van-booking list. Enter the vehicle details and an itemised load list; contents will be checked.

Track the household’s van allowance

Van and trailer access is limited to 12 household visits per year and three in a day. Cancel an unused appointment through mygovscot myaccount; unattended bookings count towards the allowance. For an unknown hire-van registration, enter H1RED and bring the hire agreement.

Allow time before the gates close

Last entry is ten minutes before closing. Shotts opens later in the morning than the other five centres. Check the destination’s current hours and accepted materials, and bring photo identification and proof of address.
