Overview
Newcastle City Council’s official household waste and recycling network has three sites: Brunswick, Byker and Walbottle. All three are represented on this page. The council’s visitor guidance is for Newcastle residents and distinguishes household waste from trade waste; use the individual listing for the centre’s location and site information.

Choose a centre for your vehicle
Brunswick accepts larger vehicles with the appropriate permit. Byker and Walbottle do not accept large vehicles requiring that permit. Check the council’s vehicle categories before choosing a site or hiring a van.
Allow enough time to unload
Last entry is 15 minutes before closing for small car loads, 30 minutes for large car loads and one hour for larger permitted loads. Opening times differ between centres. Leave enough time to unload and leave safely.
Check permit and access restrictions
Check whether your van, pick-up, trailer or hired vehicle needs a permit before travelling. A permit does not authorise business waste. Pedestrian entry is prohibited, but cargo bikes can enter. Check the vehicle dimensions and load restrictions in the visitor rules.
