Overview
Leicester City Council’s current recycling-centre information lists two household facilities: Freemen’s Common and Gypsum Close. Our two associated listings cover the complete official network. The council separately refers to the Gypsum Close trade facility, but that commercial service is not an additional household recycling centre represented on this page.

Permits and choosing a centre
Check Leicester City Council’s current permit requirements before travelling. Confirm the arrangements for your vehicle and chosen centre, and bring the required identification and permit documents.
The usual scheme covers vans, pick-ups and trailers longer than 1.4m at Gypsum Close only. Full permits allow 12 visits in 12 months; temporary permits allow three trips in one month. Check the current vehicle restrictions before travelling.
Household DIY and business waste
Qualifying DIY disposal has a separate allowance of four visits in four weeks, each limited to two 50-litre bags or one item no larger than 2m × 0.75m × 0.7m. Only waste from your own work qualifies. Business waste uses the separate paid Gypsum Close trade facility.
Check special materials and service notices
Asbestos and chemicals have separate arrangements at Freemen’s Common rather than Gypsum Close. Check the council’s current accepted-materials guidance before transporting a fridge, freezer or another appliance.
