Use the county-run centres

Alconbury, Bluntisham and St Neots are run by Thalia for Cambridgeshire County Council. No visit booking is required, but check the county’s current opening timetable and any vehicle-permit requirements before setting off.

Check the county e-permit scheme

Commercial-type vehicles and qualifying trailers need a free e-permit. The scheme allows up to 12 visits in 12 months and is limited to one permit per household. If both a permit-requiring vehicle and its trailer contain waste, two visits are deducted.

Check materials before loading

Use Cambridgeshire’s accepted-material guide for the three household centres. Driver-and-van waste-removal services are not permitted; eligible self-drive hire vehicles are treated differently and the waste producer must be present.

About Huntingdonshire Council

Huntingdonshire District Council has three Household Recycling Centres, operated by Thalia on behalf of Cambridgeshire County Council. Residents do not need to book a slot to visit, making access straightforward and convenient. The sites are free to use for household waste, but business or trade waste is strictly not accepted. An e-permit scheme is in place for certain vehicles, ensuring fair use of the facilities while helping to manage traffic and maintain efficient site operations.
