Check Barrhead and Greenhags separately

Use East Renfrewshire’s own visitor guidance to confirm the opening and access arrangements for Barrhead or Greenhags before loading. Do not use neighbouring Renfrewshire Council’s rules: it is a different service.

Confirm access for a van or trailer

Before using a van, pickup or trailer, ask the council which centre can accept it and whether advance arrangements are needed. Check the proposed vehicle and load together rather than assuming a normal car visit covers them.

Check DIY waste charges before travelling

Check the council’s current material rules and charges before bringing construction, demolition or excavation waste. Keep different materials separated and confirm the price and acceptance of your load before unloading.

About East Renfrewshire Council

East Renfrewshire Council has two recycling centres where residents can drop off most household waste free of charge. To make visits quick, cars are allowed on site for up to 30 minutes, so please pre-sort items like plasterboard, garden waste, cardboard, plastics, and metals. Staff may carry out visual checks and can refuse access if needed. Charges apply for DIY, construction, demolition, or excavation waste to cover disposal costs.
