Vans and vehicle permits
Privately registered vans used by Devon residents to carry their own household waste require a free van permit where the permit scheme applies.
A permit allows 12 visits during a rolling 12-month period.
Permits are not issued for business/commercial/work-use vehicles or sign-written vans.
Household waste only
Devon Household Waste Recycling Centres are for household waste produced by residents at their own homes.
Waste from businesses, landlords, house-clearance services or paid building/trade work is not accepted through the household service.
DIY waste
Households currently have a free allowance for DIY waste of up to 4 visits in any 4-week period.
On each qualifying visit the allowance is either:
- up to 2 rubble bags, or
- 1 unbagged item up to 2 metres long
Waste above the allowance is chargeable.
DIY waste generated by paid work carried out by a contractor or tradesperson is not accepted as household DIY waste.
