City of York Council operates two recycling centres. It’s best to visit between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm when it’s typically quieter. Pre-sort your waste to save time, but be prepared for queues during busy periods. Towthorpe tends to have fewer queues compared to Hazel Court, so consider visiting there if possible. Staff can assist with carrying heavy items, but they cannot unload materials from inside vehicles, so please plan accordingly.
