Book the correct visit allowance

Book each visit to Lamby Way or Bessemer Close. Households can book up to 26 visits per year. Car visits can be used flexibly, with no more than three in a day; vans and cars with trailers are limited to one booked visit per month.

Vehicle and trailer restrictions

Tell the council which vehicle you will bring. Eligible small vans must not exceed 5m long or 2.2m high. Cars with qualifying trailers can use Bessemer Close only; trailers are not accepted at Lamby Way. Check the full vehicle list before hiring.

Sort materials and check service notices

Unsorted bags and mixed builders waste are not accepted as a mixed load; you may be asked to sort them. Tyres and UPVC windows are listed for Lamby Way only. Check the council’s current disposal advice before bringing a fridge or freezer.

About Cardiff Council

Cardiff Council operates two recycling centres for residents to dispose of household items that cannot be collected at the kerbside. Use of the centres is free for Cardiff residents, but proof of booking and address is required on arrival. Items should fit within the boot of your car, and staff are unable to help unload. The facilities are intended only for household waste, helping residents manage disposal responsibly while reducing pressure on local services.
