Overview

Birmingham City Council’s current network has five household recycling centres: Castle Bromwich, Kings Norton, Perry Barr, Sutton Coldfield and Tyseley. The council’s guidance says visitors need proof of a Birmingham address, and the centres are for household waste rather than commercial waste. Check the individual site information before travelling.

Booking and proof of residency

Book before visiting Perry Barr, Tyseley, Kings Norton or Sutton Coldfield. Bring proof that you live in Birmingham, such as a driving licence, Council Tax bill or utility bill.

Access update checked 17 October 2026: Castle Bromwich currently does not require a booking for car users. Van users still need to book, and all visitors must show proof of residency. Check the current operator notice before travelling.

Vans and trailers larger than 6ft × 4ft use the separate van-booking route. Check the vehicle and site restrictions before booking. Household bookings cannot be used to dispose of business or trade waste.

Check Kings Norton access and accepted materials

Check the operator’s Kings Norton information before loading your vehicle. Confirm the current booking, van and trailer arrangements and which materials the site can accept.

Reuse at Tyseley

The Reuse Shop at Tyseley offers an alternative for suitable reusable goods. Check its donation guidance and opening arrangements before visiting.
