Entry & Appointment Requirements
đźš— Household Residents: No appointment is required. You can visit the Barkers Lane site freely during opening hours.
đźš› Business & Traders: Mandatory booking is required. Traders must book an appointment for the paid disposal service.
🆔 Residency Proof: You must show a current Council Tax bill or a driving licence with a Bedford Borough address.

⚠️ Permit Requirements & Vehicle Restrictions
A Waste Permit is required for car tyres, fridges/freezers, or visiting in a van, pickup, or car with a single-axle trailer.
Prohibited Vehicles:
- Vehicles with more than 4 wheels
- Trailers over 1.8m x 1.2m
- Twin-axle trailers
- Tipper vehicles / Tipper vans
DIY Waste Limits (Monthly):
- Up to 3 items: No Permit
- 4 to 6 items: Permit Required
- Over 6 items: Not accepted (hire a skip)
Note: Children and animals must remain inside the vehicle at all times for safety.
Opening Times & Peak Periods
- Standard Hours: 9am – 5pm, seven days a week (Last entry 4:50pm).
- Summer Saturdays: 9am – 7pm (1 April to 30 September only).
- Peak Times: Friday to Sunday mornings are busiest. You may be turned away if queues exceed site capacity.
Commonly Accepted: Garden Waste, Electronics (WEEE), Cardboard, Wood, Textiles, Batteries, Paint, Cooking Oil, and Metal.
