Fridge recycling is quite an easy thing to do. Most retailers offer a free collection of your old fridge for recycling when you have your new appliance delivered. Once your old unit has been collected it will be sent to a fridge recycling plant to be dismantled and recycled correctly.

Fridges are classed as hazardous waste due to the refrigerant gas contained inside the refrigerating unit. This gas is pumped around the appliance and used to keep your food cool. The gases in old fridges have to be collected professionally.

Old waste fridge’s can often be collected by using a pre booked curb-side collection from your local council or a private removal company. If you leave an old fridge outside for collection be sure to remove the doors and seals for safety reasons.

You can also recycle your old fridge by taking it to your nearest household recycling centre or tip. Local recycling facilities usually have a skip or container where old waste fridges are bulked up ready to be sent to the fridge recycling plant.
