Lots of people don’t realise that cooking foil and foil trays can be recycled. Aluminium foil is a versatile material and is used in food packaging and the cooking process itself. Frozen food often comes pre-packed in ready to cook foil trays and cooking foil is used when roasting food in the oven.

Aluminium cooking foil often finds its way into the general waste bin, but it can actually be recycled along with your regular household recyclables. To recycle foil first clean it by running it under the tap or dipping it in washing up water, then pop it your recycle bin. That’s all you need to do, it’s so simple.

Foil recycling can also be done by visiting a recycling centre in your locality, most recycle facilities and tips have bins to recycle aluminium cooking foil.
